Frontispiece:
The well known photograph used as the frontispiece was taken in the Cabell home on Monument Avenue, and originally appeared in Arts & Decoration Magazine, Vol. XXX, No. 1, for November, 1928. It illustrated an article by Burton Rascoe titled "An Intimate Visit to James Cabell and Ellen Glasgow via an Air Flight to Richmond". It is a particularly appropriate photo to use as the frontispiece for this work: it is the only known photograph in which Cabell and Glasgow appear together (see image above).
