DISCUSSION
Full Title:
Mistress of Mistresses
Publication:
London, Gollancz, 2001.
Wraps:
Large format paperback, 7¾ in. x 5 in.; The cover illustration is a slightly cropped image of Flaming June, painted c. 1895 by the Pre-Raphaelite artist Sir Frederic Leighton, 1st Baron Leighton (1830-1896).
(see image above).
Notes:
The somewhat beat-up condition is explained by the fact that this is my go-to reading copy of my favorite novel in the trilogy. It is a nice, comfortable size, the typeface is very readable, and it includes Keith Henderson's decorations, the appendices, and the maps by Gerald Hayes.
This title is no. 21 in the Fantasy Masterworks series, which also included The Worm Ouroboros (no. 3), Lud-in-the-Mist (no. 11), and one of my favorite modern fantasies, Tim Powers' The Drawing of the Dark (no. 34). The original series included 50 titles and was published 2000-2007. The "New Series" was published 2013-2015, and included 16 titles.
